Eco-Education for an Ecological Civilization
Ecological Civilization is a guiding vision to help us cultivate a bright future for humanity in harmony with nature and the more-than-human world. Grounded in traditional Asian philosophies such as Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, complemented by modern Western ideas like Process Thinking and Ecological Philosophy, and enriched by Indigenous land-based wisdom from around the world, this vision is also informed by advancements in science and technology, such as earth system science, evolutionary biology, ecology, and physics. Powered by both the human spirit and technology, ecological civilization is not an unattainable dream but a guiding compass for navigating the challenges of the VUCA age.
It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.
The mind that is not baffled in not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.
- Wendell Berry
